Where is the year going? It feels like everything is rushing by while I try to keep up with relationships and teaching and college ministry and church and housework. I have been brainstorming for some upcoming posts, so stay tuned while I try to find time to post more than once
a month every couple months.
I have been using Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm with SPF 25 (grapefruit and ginger) since I received it as a Christmas gift and I love it! I use it almost every day though I sometimes alternate between this clear, glossy balm and my other favorite, slightly tinted lip balm.
Don’t type those annoying strings of numbers into your phone, dictate them. Whenever I have to enter a string of numbers, such as to sign into my library’s online lending site, I tap the microphone and read the account from my library card.
In February, we visited Brian’s family to celebrate his birthday and to meet our new first-cousin-once-removed, Benjamin.
Around the House
I gave Brian a pruning saw for his birthday this month but he has not been able to use it yet. If you do not know what that is, do not feel bad! I did not know about it until he wanted one. This pruning saw is basically a small, battery-powered chain saw on a pole that my handy husband wants to use on our unruly tree branches.
I finally caved into all the Rainbow Rowell fans and read Fangirl.
(I read Eleanor & Park
first and thought it was well done but not my cup of tea.) I liked Fangirl
so much more. I enjoyed the characters and felt that they resembled college students I have known. I am already on the waiting lists for a couple of Rainbow’s other books.
I often turn on a fun show that does not require a lot of concentration while I cook or clean, but it has to be something on Netflix since it can move around the house with my on my various devices. In February, I worked my way through the first season of Jane the Virgin. It was fun because it reminded me of watching Spanish telenovelas to improve my Spanish speaking ability during my sophomore year of college. It isn’t just for Spanish speakers, though, because most of it is in English.
I have been listening to fellow Sorta Awesome fans on Voxer
nearly every day. I enjoy the social aspect and getting to know friends all over the world. It also comes in handy when looking for girlfriend-type advice – or simple empathy – about travel, work, family, and so on. By the way, Voxer is a fun app for voice chatting with family and friends.
Around the Web
Some new friends and I started group on Facebook called Hobby Bloggers
because we want a community for us just-for-fun bloggers who do not want to focus our attention on branding and monetizing. If that description fits you, you are welcome to join us.
