Virtual Coffee Date

Coffee please
If we were on a coffee date, we would probably meet at my house because my favorite iced coffee right now is my Aeropress-ed Candy Cane Iced Coffee. Plus, there’s almost always an open couch or deck seating. I would gladly make a coffee or tea or Italian soda for you, too.

If we were on a coffee date, I would ask about your creative outlets, things you do to stretch and express your creativity. While we were traveling so much over the summer, mine was photography both on my phone and point-and-shoot camera. I have also enjoyed gardening while we were home. I do not know how much time I will spend on gardening and photography now that school is starting or if I will move on to something else that inspires me. I have noticed that I do not blog as much anymore. During the summer it was because I was experiencing and enjoying and intentionally left my computer at home. During the last school year, it was because teaching took up so many of of my words that I did not feel like I had much to share in blog posts.

If we were on a coffee date, I would ask where you have noticed examples of courage lately. I am so impressed with my students’ courage and determination because, no matter how nervous and homesick they are, these eighteen- to twenty-year-olds decided to move to a country where they take college classes and play sports and make friends all in a foreign language that they are still learning!

If we were on a coffee date, I would ask about your last vacation. Brian and I enjoyed lots of traveling this summer, but have been glad to be home for the past few weeks and the next few. When we took our “big” vacation to Seattle in June, I loved exploring an unknown-to-us city with Brian and walking ’til my feet hurt. It was fun to try local restaurants, see the history and nature of Bainbridge Island, wander around Pike Place Market, and visit with my sister’s family. One of my favorite parts was going to a park with our nephew and wading along the lake while he splashed around.

What would you want to talk about on a coffee date?

Love this! Thanks for coming to the table, Abby!

  2. Hi Abby! Goodness, there are so many wonderful and beautiful things to talk about here… Vacation – we haven’t taken one this summer… We fly to Europe in a few weeks and GOODNESS I CANNOT WAIT. I’ve been feeling landlocked lately so it will be a BLESSED moment to lift off for the land across the sea! 🙂

Creativity. Whoof, there’s a lot of it in a lot of ways in my life but lately painting has been taking over my little mind. I can’t help retreating to my painting space every evening when I get home from work and find myself praying for just a few more minutes before I have to get to cooking dinner and all that jazz. 🙂

I’d tell you I’m so thankful you’re here and so, so glad we got to sit on the deck (LOOOOVE) under the summer sun. 🙂
